to 30-Year-Old Piece of `Transcendent' Theater History
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Richard Burton's "Hamlet," performed on stage in 1964 and acknowledged as the high point of the late actor's theater career, will be seen again -- in U.S. cinemas, 30 years after its Broadway triumph.
A 35 mm filmed record, long thought lost, of Burton's legendary Broadway performance was located in the cellar of Burton's chalet in Celigny, Switzerland, in "three rusty cans, amid old trunks and broken china," according to his widow, Sally Burton.
