Jul. 19--Lehigh Valley trout fishermen will get a two-week head start on the 2007 trout season, thanks to a new program approved by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission on Tuesday. Under the Regional Opening Day of Trout Season program, next year's trout season will open March 31 in 18 counties across Southeastern Pennsylvania -- including all of the Lehigh Valley. The program was finalized by a 9-0 vote during the commission's quarterly meeting in Harrisburg. The move ends a more than 50-year tradition of holding a statewide opening day.
