Jul. 19--Ushers at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and the Academy of Music are working under a contract extension while negotiations for a new labor pact -- and a long run of The Lion King -- continue.
The 140 or so ushers, all employed by the Kimmel Center, which operates both venues, had a contract that expired June 30. They voted to go on strike last Friday, but have now agreed to work another month as talks go on.
