Jul. 19--West Texas teens still on the cusp of life are serving people at every stage of life -- the newly born at the Car Seat Clinic, mothers who've lost a child and the dying at Hospice House, among others.
Many feel that those volunteer hours, performed as part of the Texas Scholars program, will prepare them for their own journey.
"The community service part was to get the students out in the community and teach them different aspects of (it) and what types of programs are offered," Sondra Eoff, Texas Scholars Board chairwoman, said.
"It teaches them to be better citizens," she said.
