Jeff Bloch, purchasing manager for 1991 Malcolm Baldrige award winner Solectron, has no doubt his suppliers will provide his firm with materials and components that meet its tough quality standards--and that they'll do it on time and without fail.
After all, Bloch's purchasing team selects suppliers carefully through a rigid review that includes site visits. And the ability of a supplier to meet Solectron's quality standards is a minimum requirement for doing business with the company.
