Just down the street from LifeLine Ambulance's Station 1 at the corner of Fifth Street and North Wenatchee Avenue is the beginning of a stretch of projects scheduled to transform Wenatchee's waterfront with condominiums and an events center.
Mike Walker, who started the ambulance company with his wife JoAnn Walker in 1988, said the projects just a block from his company's first station provided the motivation to rebuild a new station from the ground up.
"Other things than dollars and cents enter into the equation," Walker said, regarding the project.
