* In 1926 Los Angeles had a height limit of twelve stories, so a variance to the building code 8was passed. City Hall and its twenty-eight story tower became downtown's tallest structure.
* The famed tower of City Hall rises 452 feet above Main Street.
* City Hall is comprised of 856,000 square feet, or almost twenty acres, of floor area.
* 500,000 square feet of its total floor area is devoted to offices.
* 137,000 square feet is the City Hall garage, which can accommodate 550 automobiles.
* The building's total volume is 12,000,000 cubic feet.
