First LTU at Bangalore on Oct 1, Chennai LTU on Jan 1
New Delhi, July 20 (PTI) The much-delayed Large Taxpayer Unit (LTU) will be operational at Bangalore from October 1, while the second unit would come up at Chennai on January 1, 2007.
LTUs are designed to act as a single window facilitation centre for all large entities paying excise duty, corporate tax, income tax and service tax.
However, corporates in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata would have to wait for the LTUs till some time next year.
