Jul. 21--The University of California Board of Regents on Thursday chose physicist George Miller to head up a potential bid for the Livermore Lab contract. Miller, interim director of Lawrence Livermore Laboratory, has extensive experience with nuclear-weapons research and running large-scale facilities. He took the reins at the lab in March after Michael Anastasio left the post to head up Los Alamos National Laboratory.
The university has all but formally declared it will bid for continued management of Livermore Lab this year, once again joining Bechtel Corp. in a repeat of last year's successful bid for Los Alamos. The ...
