The South Korean Fair Trade Commission (FTC) has rejected Microsoft's bid to get it to reverse its December order to unbundle the Media Player and instant messaging from the Windows operating systems as well as its precedent-setting fine of $34.28 million.
Microsoft's only other recourse now is its existing appeal to the Seoul High Court.
The FTC did, however, cancel an order banning Microsoft from bundling the services with other software like Office, but dug in its heels about Microsoft coming up with two desktop operating systems by August 24 pending a stay: one without the widgetry and one with links to competitive products.
