Jun. 23--Bank of Japan Gov. Toshihiko Fukui apologized Thursday to Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi for creating a turmoil over his investment in the scandal-tainted Murakami fund. Fukui offered his apologies at the beginning of his meeting with Koizumi and key Cabinet ministers at the Prime Minister's Official Residence, according to Finance Minister Sadakazu Tanigaki. "There was no talk about (Fukui's future) course of action," Tanigaki told reporters after the meeting when asked if Koizumi commented on calls for the BOJ chief to step down.
