Jul. 1--Believing that a smoking ban eventually would be implemented in Kokomo, the owners of Ducky's Family Restaurant, 816 E. Markland Ave., said they decided to make the popular eatery a smoke-free facility.
Lisa Duncan, a part-owner, said the decision to convert to a smoke-free atmosphere was out of health concerns for family members and customers.
"A smoking ban is inevitable," Duncan said. "We're just ahead of everyone else."
Customers who didn't want to be around secondhand smoke would come in when the restaurant wasn't very crowded or would leave, Duncan said.
