Jul. 24--You could make a case that for the first three months of the season the Reading Phillies were hapless. They owned the Eastern League's worst record and were in position to challenge the club record for losses in a season. Well, the Phils are happ-less no longer.
That officially ended June 30 when 23-year-old lefthander J.A. Happ arrived from Single-A Clearwater. The former third-round pick out of Northwestern didn't save this sinking ship all by himself, but he's helped. Sunday he threw seven scoreless innings in the Phillies' 6-0 win over visiting Connecticut to improve his Double-A record to 5-1 in six starts. ...
