Jul. 24--During last week's heat wave, when I asked people to tell me about the hottest jobs they've ever had, I did not expect to come across like some unapologetic yuppie.
But a reader named Joe P., "a big fan," suggested that I may inadvertently have seemed elitist because I made it sound like such jobs "are always temporary stops on the way to a professional career."
I see his point, even though I did say, "Think of all the people who can't avoid the heat."
