Durban - Wholesale distribution group Spar is making use of aerial photography and satellite images to determine income and household density when planning new stores and expansions.
Chief executive Peter Hughes said last week: "It is a very valuable tool, which we use to find where we could locate new stores and if it will be viable to expand existing stores."
The Spar Group distributes to 1 168 independently owned Spar, Tops and Build It stores. In the year ahead it plans to open 44 outlets.
