Jul. 25--The scheduled closure of a section of Cannery Row didn't happen as planned on Monday. Earlier this month, the Monterey City Council agreed to close Cannery Row between Prescott and David avenues to accommodate construction of the Cannery Row Hotel. The council agreed to let the contractors start closing the street beginning Monday and allowing it to stay closed through May. At the time, officials for the contractor, Devcon Construction, insisted that the project would be delayed by months if it couldn't shut down part of Cannery Row. But the street remained open on Monday. City officials said they aren't sure why and ...
