Jul. 25--Medical specialists don't always see what Lynne Trease notices in her daughter. They rarely observe Nikki or other children with her condition. And, absent large scientific studies on hydranencephaly, they disagree over the likelihood that anyone with so little brain tissue can see, hear, speak, laugh, cry, appreciate life or connect with others.
