I am a fixed-gear limited-entry fisherman based in Southern California and have been involved in fishery politics most of my fishing career. I thought I had seen the worst of the groundfish management bombshells lobbed at our industry, but this latest assault on the local fishermen's suggested change to the boundary of the sacred Cowcod Conservation Areas truly takes the cake. This is not a dispute over the health of cowcod stocks. This is a dispute about the areas closed to protect cowcod.
