It's a call that all commercial fishermen dread--a mayday from a trawler going down by the stern. Its position and something about down flooding was the last thing anyone heard.
One hour later you've reached the spot the call came from. It's blowing 70 miles per hour with 20-foot seas and snow coming out of the northeast, blasting the wheelhouse windows and the faces of the guys on deck. They are peering into the dark, looking for life rafts and crew in survival suits. The searchlight is scanning off the bow but barely cutting through the dark and swirling snow.
