Three years after the end of the Persian Gulf War, evidence has arisen that the mystery illnesses afflicting some veterans of the war may be spreading to their wives and to children born after they returned home.
The collection of symptoms plaguing thousands of veterans _ nausea, fevers, diarrhea, inflamed joints, memory loss, fatigue, vision problems _ has been dubbed Persian Gulf Syndrome.
Now, a cluster of birth defects and other health problems among babies born to veterans of a Mississippi National Guard unit that served in the gulf has been called ``alarming'' by U.S. Rep. G.V. ``Sonny'' Montgomery, D-Miss.
