CANBERRA, July 25 Asia Pulse - Australian farmers stand to lose billions of dollars in the wake of collapsed world trade talks that could also start a new race for bilateral trade deals.
Sugar, dairy and beef farmers will be the biggest losers, to the tune of almost $A1.5 billion ($US1.13 billion) a year, after six key nations - including Australia - failed to agree on ways to slash protection of agricultural and industrial goods.
The development has prompted calls from the business community for Australia to embark on a new wave of bilateral free trade deals - a move that could push back global negotiations even further.
