Telecommunications engineer John Duffy, aged 38, of Ward End: "School holidays are too short. I don't think a child's whole life should be school. But it's probably challenging if both parents work."
Insurance worker Kevin Sherratt, 48, of Sutton Coldfield: "They're probably about right. Children these days work hard and they need those six weeks to recharge their batteries."
Carol Underwood says that in Ireland school holidays are much longer. The 49-year-old Birmingham bank official says: "Secondary school children get three months and primary school children two months. Six weeks is about right."
