CinemaNow has exposed a rift among the studios that threatens to fragment the market.
With the announcement last week that studio-owned Movielink had struck a deal with software maker Sonic Solutions to facilitate consumer burning of downloaded movies, followed two days later by CinemaNow 's launch of a full-blown download-and-burn service, it appears the industry is moving rapidly toward a new consumer-friendly business model.
But this is Hollywood, and appearances are often deceiving.
