During your first workout in the heat, cut your intensity by 65% to 75%. Over the next 10 days, slowly build back to your previous level. Adjusting to the climate is referred to as "acclimatization." This is essential for safe exercise in the heat.

Exercise in the morning or evening when the weather is coolest. And to reduce exposure to pollution, exercise before sunrise and avoid exercise in areas with high traffic volume.

Choose light-colored clothing made of a fiber that wicks away sweat, unlike cotton which holds moisture against your skin. Your body cools down through the evaporation of sweat, not from moisture held against the skin.
