The ideal would be to share the road with cars, but since they are bigger and stronger always give cars the right-of-way.

Avoid exercising on busy roadways, but if these are the only routes to take, time your workout to avoid peak traffic. Run on the shoulder and face traffic (but, when possible, run on the outside when going around blind curves). When you cycle, ride will the traffic. Obey traffic laws, you are considered a vehicle with the same rights and responsibilities as an auto.
