Jul. 26--SUFFOLK -- Army Maj. Gen. Jason K. Kamiya assumed command of the Joint Warfighting Center in Suffolk on Tuesday, taking over from Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Jon "Goose" Gallinetti, who has led the center since July 2004. "He's been at this job at an incredibly difficult and dynamic time," Air Force Gen. Lance Smith said of Gallinetti. Smith leads the Norfolk-based U.S. Joint Forces Command, which oversees the center. The country, Smith said, has been at war on two fronts - Iraq and Afghanistan - and the military has been experiencing the largest transformation in recent history.
