CNMC uninvolved in riot at copper mine in Zambia - official
Shanghai. July 27. INTERFAX-CHINA - The China Nonferrous Metal Mining Group denied involvement Thursday in a riot that resulted in six workers being shot and a production shutdown at its copper mine in Zambia.
A CNMC official, who asked to remain anonymous because of the sensitivity of the incident, said a contractor hired by the company was involved in the conflict over wages at the Chambishi copper mine.
"I have heard of the incident. There is a salary conflict between miners and the contractor, not our company. CNMC Africa Mining hired the contractor to be in charge of construction ...
