The publicatioa of the first volume of a new history of Icelandic literature, which will comprise four volumes aad survey the couatry's literature from skaldic aad eddic poetry through post-moderaism, is a notable achievement. Its editors are also the authors of the first volume. Vesteinn Olason wrote the introductioa aad the chapters on poetic meters, eddic poetry, aad skaldic poetry (11-262) as well as chapter 7 on Christian religious poetry (481-515).
