Jul 27, 2006 (New Scientist - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Peter and Rosemary Grant, biologists at Princeton University, have been able to observe an evolutionary change from start to finish. They found that Geospiza fortis, a species of Darwin's finch in the Galapagos, evolved a smaller beak during a drought in 2004 to avoid competing with a larger ground finch, Geospiza magnirostris.
