Emissions has been the main driver in engine redesign for engine manufacturers in the U.S. and abroad. While this rings true for many manufacturers, Perkins Engines has taken a different approach with the release of its 400D engines, focusing foremost on new engine features, an increased power range with three new engine models, while still meeting the impending Tier 3/Stage 3a regulations and beginning production more than a year prior to the 2008 installation date.
