Jul. 28--WATERLOO -- A salvage yard and the city are involved in a chicken-or-the-egg dispute over a piece of land in the Riverview area.
A request by Pat Rooff to buy a a portion of Lowell Avenue and another parcel of city property to expand Pat's Auto Salvage was rejected unanimously by members of the Waterloo City Council's Building and Grounds Committee this week. Council members said they were loathe to sell the business more land because they believe it has not been following zoning requirements governing salvage yard operations. But Rooff has said the land will help him comply with the city's requests.
