Dear Carol: My flowers have been attacked by hordes of Japanese beetles. I have put traps near the plants most afflicted, but they cannot keep up with the beetle population. Do the traps attract even more beetles and should I take them down? Should I get rid of the plants they like most, even my beloved roses? Is there any way to kill them without environmental damage? Is there any way to prevent their recurrence next year (without environmental damage)? - H.S., Camillus.
