A $20,000 grant from the Allstate Foundation to the Boys & Girls Club of Syracuse, announced last week, is worthy of note for both the project it pays for and the way the money arrived here.
The cash will support a new Teaching Tolerance Series, an outreach program with multiple events at different sites through April to promote diversity education.
Among the highlights are a youth mural project; a trip to the Onondaga Nation; a diversity education session for youth workers - followed by practical application; and a Unity Day Fair, with homegrown examples of diversity, including food, crafts and dance.
