Jul. 31--WILKES-BARRE -- When a good-hitting team gets on a roll, nothing seems to be able to contain it. That was the scenario for the Plains American Legion baseball team in its last four games. The team scored a whopping 54 runs in that period, including a 16-8 victory over Sunbury-Northumberland at Artillery Park on Sunday to claim its first Region 5 championship since 1980. What makes Sunday's performance even more eye-popping is that Sunbury-Nory's top two pitchers got knocked around.
