Article: Prostitute's death linked to pneumonia, infection, coroner says.

Aug. 1--Three months after a young Toledo prostitute was found -- sopping wet and high on drugs -- in an East Toledo home, her death has been linked to pneumonia and infection.

Melissa Palmer, 18, was a critical witness in a nationwide federal investigation into teenage prostitution, but it did not appear to contribute to her death April 29, according to local investigators.

The teenager died of acute pneumonia and a urinary tract infection after prolonged drug use weakened her body, Dr. Cynthia Beisser, a deputy Lucas County coroner, said yesterday.
