Aug. 2--They were a cool bunch to an 11-year-old kid like Tony Mueller. And rightfully so.
The 2001 La Crosse American Legion baseball team was one of the best Mueller had ever seen. Of course he was a little biased; his brothers, Dale and Jon, played on that team. But Mueller looked up to a lot of their teammates, too.
That team set high standards that Mueller, who's in his second year playing for La Crosse, hopes to attain. La Crosse (21-26) faces Oshkosh at 1 p.m. today in the Class AAA state tournament in Appleton, Wis.
