ST. PAUL, Minn. _ By the time Erin Ferguson was 13, she was spending much of her energy concealing from the world the central secret of her life _ that she is gay.
Lonely and confused, she longed to tell her mother what she was feeling, but she couldn't seem to find the right moment.
Finally, during dinner one night, Erin was eating pretty fast and her sister commented, ``Mom, Erin sure is hungry.''
Erin replied, ``Yeah, and I'm gay, too.''
