A moment of bravery saved the life of 40-year-old Thengukuphila Mlambo, of KwaMtholo, near Mtubatuba, on Sunday when he fought off and killed a leopard that attacked him.
The leopard that attacked Mlambo was believed to have been one of three on the loose in the area, striking fear into local communities.
A leopard attacked and killed Nomusa Mncwango, 22, later on Sunday when she went to fetch water from the Vutshini River which is near the south-eastern boundary of Hluhluwe game reserve. A leopard was also reported to have attacked another person, who was said to be in a stable condition.
