Aug. 1--Joe Natoli, publisher of The Inquirer, Philadelphia Daily News, and Philly.com, has resigned to take a job as chief financial officer for the University of Miami.
Miami began recruiting Natoli, a Florida native, last spring, before the paper's sale to Philadelphia Media Holdings, said Dean Colson, chairman of the university board.
"We approached him. I considered him a friend," as did other board members, based on Natoli's long prior career as a Florida newspaper executive, Colson said. But Natoli refused to consider leaving Philadelphia until the sale was completed, Colson said.
