When Jeanne Lingbeck visited her son's family in Colorado, she always brought two suitcases: one for her clothes and another full of books for her grandchildren.

"She would read 20 books in a day to them," daughter-in-law Michele Lingbeck said. "She truly believed one of the most important things was to get those kids to read."

Lingbeck, the retired principal of Burnsville's Vista View Elementary School, died July 18 of brain cancer. She was 59.
