I am responding to the words of Mr Conrad Beyers, representative of the Freedom Front + and member of the Committee of 15 in charge of utilising the names of African personalities for an Africanisation of the city streets.

During an interview with your reporter Barry Bateman which gave rise to the article titled "Metro Committee won't let Mobutu and Nkrumah be city street names" (July 14), Mr Beyers qualifies the Gabonese head of state, His Excellency El Hadj Omar Bongo Ondimba, as "a living dictator in a state-party whose name has been proposed for a street in Pretoria".

I don't know on which criteria Mr Beyers bases such a qualitative to a head of ...
