Aug. 3--Chickens and bunnies gathered to fight for the purple Wednesday morning at the 70th annual Sarpy County Fair. The fair kicked off with two 4-H Club animal exhibitions where kids showcased their other best friends, chickens and rabbits, for ribbons. Rich Jansen, the president of the Sarpy County Fair and Agricultural Society, said he hopes the five-day fair will attract 65,000 to 70,000 visitors. He said a recent expansion of the fairgrounds and the addition of more activities should bring in more people than last year's 50,000 to 60,000. "We really have something for everybody," he said.
