Mar. 15--David Stern, the commissioner of the National Basketball Association, will be in Minneapolis today to attempt to broker a compromise in stalled negotiations over the possible public purchase of the Target Center arena.
Minneapolis Mayor Sharon Sayles Belton also is scheduled to decide today whether to call an emergency City Council meeting later this week for council members to vote on whether to back state legislation that would permit a public buyout of the debt-ridden arena.
