Dame Elizabeth Taylor defines glamour. We fashion people absolutely revere her, so of course I am so excited to meet her for the first time. I arrive at her Bel Air home on a cool spring evening and am led to the white drawing room. It has white walls, a white shag carpet, white furniture, and great art--Matisse, Renoir, Degas, and Modigliani. On the generous-size coffee table sits an incredible collection of amethyst crystals. Dame Elizabeth enters the room, preceded by her white Maltese, Daisy, who sits on her lap throughout my entire visit. Her red cat, Sneakers, runs about.
