Aug. 3--CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- The Fox affiliate stations in Champaign and Springfield plan to launch a 9 p.m. newscast in September and in an unusual twist, the program will be produced by the local ABC affiliates.

The 35-minute newscast on WCCU-TV 27 and WRSP-TV 55 will be called "Newschannel at 9 on Fox Illinois."

It will be produced by the news teams at WICS-TV 20 and WICD-TV 15 and will feature on-air talent from those two stations, according to Tim Mathis, general manager of the two ABC affiliates.
