Aug. 6--There is a big white blob over us on the weather map. They seem to have run out of colors dark enough for this kind of continuing heat. Bright red caused a meltdown in Boston. Early last week, Minneapolis was purple. Another degree in New York, and Geraldo Rivera might have put himself in harm's way of the heat, appearing on Fox to ride the subway in a hooded sweatshirt -- anything to get a byline. We and Death Valley now qualify for white heat on the map. The lows in Minnesota and Massachusetts today will be in the 60's. Ours aren't your father's lows. Our low looks like Louisville's high.
