PETER DOBBIE LAST week I went shopping. Or, to be more accurate, I waited while my wife went shopping, standing outside a mall where I quickly became aware of a gathering of young Americans.
'God is my friend. I was alone and sad until I discovered God,' one of them said.
I watched the group as each took it in turns to approach a microphone and implore the passing shoppers to 'Find true friendship with God'.
Each youngster looked as if he or she had come from a film set depicting small-town America in the Fifties. They were neatly dressed and wore smiles that were as shiny as their shoes.
