Aug. 7--HOLMEN, Wis. -- Steve Crogan's not a mountain climber per se, but he was on top of the world Sunday. And, in a way, he had scaled a mountain known as the La Crosse Tribune Men's County Amateur Golf Championships.
Fourteen years ago, Crogan played in his first County Am flighted championship. He didn't win. In fact, he spent the next 13 years trying to win a championship, and finally realized that dream when he shot an 83 Sunday at Drugan's Castle Mound Country Club to finish the two-day, 36-hole tournament with a 170 in the Fourth Flight.
