Vollmer Associates has been selected by the New York State Department of Transportation to design a deck replacement project on a Grand Central Parkway bridge viaduct in Queens, NY.
The project involves the deck replacement, including superstructure rehabilitation, of the Grand Central Parkway bridge over Winchester Boulevard and the Cross Island Parkway. The viaduct consists of a 15-span rolled steel stringer superstructure with an eight-inch reinforced monolithic concrete deck. Two concrete abutments and 14 concrete piers make up the substructure. The bridge is approximately 1907-feet long and 141-feet wide.
