DENVER -- Child psychiatrists view insomnia as "a major problem" in nearly one-third of their patients, according to a national survey.
The questionnaire survey completed by 1,271 actively practicing members of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry revealed they take a highly variable clinical approach to insomnia in their patients, who typically have associated behavioral, neurodevelopmental, or psychiatric conditions. They prescribe a wide array of sleep medications, all off label.
